LABOUR IS… NEVER HAVING TO SAY SORRY FOR THE DEBT

The Conservatives have hit back at Labour’s gutter-like campaigning against the Conservative-led Government’s attempts to cut the debt left by the last Labour Government.

Following weeks of pathetic attacks by Labour politicians with their heads in the sand, local Conservatives have been putting them firmly in their place.

In one letter to the local press, Dave Westhead, the Chairman of Ashton-under-Lyne Conservatives, wrote:

“The cuts that have to be made are Labour’s cuts – a direct consequence of its economic policies which brought this country to the verge of bankruptcy.

“You only need to look at Ireland to see what would have happened without action. Nobody has yet seen an apology for the mess they left.

“Labour did not leave a “Golden Legacy” but rather burdened every man, woman and child with a debt of over £22,500 pounds which costs £120million a day in interest.

“What did [local Labour politicians]… do to lessen this debt locally? The answer is nothing, they continued increasing your council tax and spending your money on any pet project that sounded good, examples of this are: £36,000 on a Virtual Town scrapped because nobody used it; £10,000+ on a You Tube channel watched by 63 people; and, over £5,700 on an iphone application. Not really good examples of prudence.

“I notice that they will not tell you how Labour would deal with the massive debt burden, that is because they have no idea, either locally or nationally other that to deny it exists.

“Indeed, they feel that it is their right to be allowed to carry on taxing you and then spending the money any way they see fit.”
